Flos Design Lighting and Functional Light

The company was founded in Italy at the start of the nineteen sixties, in the middle of a period when Italian industrial design was rewriting what everyday objects could look like. Flos built its reputation by working with designers who were prepared to push both the form and the manufacturing.

What separates the brand from a catalogue of attractive lamps is how many of those pieces are still in production decades later. A design that survives sixty years of changing interiors was solving a real problem, not following a style, and that is also what makes these fittings safe to specify in a project that has to last.

The technical side has kept pace. LED sources, proper dimming and current optics have been worked into the older shapes without redrawing them, so a piece from the sixties can be installed today with the efficiency expected now.
