Castore floor

Castore Floor is an Artemide floor lamp with a spherical blown glass diffuser 35 cm in diameter, on a slim stem about 1.8 m tall. The light is soft and even, so the lamp creates a warm atmosphere beside a sofa, an armchair or in a corner of the living room.

The sphere is visible even when the lamp is off, so Castore also works as a sculpture in the room. It sits well against a wall, next to a chest of drawers or in the corner between two pieces of furniture.

Brightness is set by a touch dimmer on the stem, which remembers the last light level; a switch on the stem or a remote control is also possible. The source is LED, 21 W, 2077 lumens according to Artemide data for the 35 cm diffuser. Dimensions: diffuser diameter 350 mm, height about 1820 mm; IP20 for indoor use.

The version offered has the 35 cm diffuser in white. The diffuser is blown glass, the stem is thermoplastic resin and the base is zinc alloy (zamak). Castore was designed in 2003 by Michele De Lucchi and Huub Ubbens; the family also includes suspension and table versions.
